nAKed Productions Shows and Auditions
This is an outline of a step by step process of how to audition for a nAKed show and the expectations of you as a dancer/singer/musician/artists once you have joined the cast of a show.
Auditions
-
Auditions will be posted via Social Media on our AKInverted page, through fliers in the community, fliers in the studio, and an email campaign to all previous and current students of AKInverted.
-
The audition notice will be posted no later than up to one month prior to show date to ensure timely preparation of acts.
-
Auditions require you to showcase your talent, skill, and abilities and do not require you to have a piece completed for the show you are auditioning for. If you choose to showcase something on theme for the upcoming show it may work in your favor during the audition but you do not have to have a completed piece to be considered for the show.
-
An audition can be booked at any time on our website under our Auditions page.
-
You can audition to be a core part of nAKed troupe or to be a guest artist. There will be a selection on the Audition Form.
Casting and performer expectations
-
After being casted you will need to submit a proposal of your decided act which can include your needs for apparatus use or special bookings for training etc. A deadline will be provided for this, for each show.
-
If you are auditioning for group numbers and you are chosen to join the cast you will be expected to attend all rehearsals for group number pieces. Group rehearsals are typically every Sunday 12-2pm.
-
If you are casted for a solo act with a pole or lollipop and you would like to utilize AKInverted studio equipment it is your job to inquire about training for that apparatus you need and to be attuned to the Open Jam sessions. For apparatuses other than Floor or Pole you will need to send in special inquiry and may be subject to added rental fees.
-
You will be expected to sign a performer contract and performer waiver that will have an event withdrawal date on it.
-
You are expected to generate your own music, own costuming, and own props. If you are casted for a group number you may or may not be required to provide costuming depending on the needs of the number and must be able to provide sizing preferences as requested.
-
If you are using an AKInverted studio apparatus, you must have your own Performer Insurance and you must attach a copy of this insurance to your audition application. (Performer Insurance is usually purchased online and can easily be obtained as a “per show” package or an “annual policy”. If you are applying for an Amateur Night you will not be expected to have Performer Insurance.
Special Performer Requests
-
nAKed may send out a performer invitation to specific performers in the community to inquire about their desire and availability to be in a show. The expectations for these performers would be the same as described above, once casted.
